I'm Mia, a mixed media artist based in Essex who is passionate about celebrating colour and the female form through art.

My creative journey began with a curiosity for the way that art could allow me to put all my chaos onto a canvas, and over time, I have developed a style that really allows me to express my passion.

I have exhibited my work in small galleries and cafés in and around Essex. In 2024, I took part in a mural project resulting in my painting being displayed in my hometown for the next 15 years!

I studied Fine Art at GCSE and A-Level which has influenced my artistic journey, allowing me to refine my techniques and explore new concepts.

This painting was my final piece of the 'people project' during my GCSE, where I really fell in love with art. I decided to explore the female form as it felt so close to home.

I found myself painting my 'ideal form' and subconsciously expressing my own emotions and insecurities through the piece. Each curve became a reflection of how I viewed beauty and femininity.

Looking back, this piece was more than just a project, it was a personal exploration of identity. It was during this time that I really realised the power of art as a means of expression.

This painting is very close to my heart as it is a reference to my Palestinian heritage while fitting within my theme of the female body and beauty.

This painting represents the strength and beauty of the Arab woman. The female form, dressed in gold and deep blue, embodies resilience and femininity. The flowing Arabic calligraphy connects to language and identity. This piece is a tribute to the power of women in Palestine and the resilience they have shown since 1948.

The painting depicts a naked woman in deep tones, exploring the darkness and taboo surrounding nudity. Her body, exposed and vulnerable, challenges societal standards of beauty and the pressure to conform to the 'ideal' figure.

The dark colours around her emphasise the discomfort and judgment often associated with being naked. The image confronts the viewer with the raw, unfiltered reality of the human form, questioning the ideals imposed by society.

This piece was completely spontaneous, using leftover paints before they dried out. Without a set story, it became an exploration of movement and energy.

This can be whatever you want it to be! Wind, Fire, Hair. It's raw, expressive, and alive, capturing the beauty of instinctive creation.

This piece captures the beauty of an underwater world. The shapes resemble sea creatures, like seahorses exploring coral reefs.

The teal background and yellow details look to me like the sun peeking through the water.

This piece is actually 3D. I had three smaller canvases I didn't really know what to do with, so I stuck them onto a larger one in random places to create a dynamic effect.

The raised canvases add depth, making the artwork feel more immersive. Using spray paint and hand-cut templates, I built up a graffiti-inspired composition filled with energy.

The nude figures blend into the chaos of the background, becoming part of the abstract flow rather than standing apart. Nudity is often seen as taboo, but through this piece, I want to challenge that perception and celebrate the beauty of the human body in its raw, natural form.

This graffiti-style piece is a statement on the importance of street art and self-expression.

Using spray paint I was able to capture the look and feel of street art. I wanted to challenge the idea that graffiti is vandalism when, in reality, it brings life, colour, and identity to cities.

Street art has the power to transform dull spaces into something meaningful, telling stories that might otherwise go unheard. This piece is a reminder that creativity should be celebrated, not criminalised.
